Modern Neurological Rehabilitation is directed at Patients with neurological system dysfunctions, requiring a long-term, individual and complex rehabilitation.

Neurological Rehabilitation offered at TriVita Centre includes both post-discharge (so-called early) rehabilitation and late rehabilitation (after leaving Stroke Unit).

Our offer pertains to all Patients, including those, who require a full range of nursing care services.

Patients staying at our Centre for a limited period of time can stay with their Carer in a comfortable room adapted for the needs of disabled people.

For people visiting their close ones, we have prepared dedicated hotel rooms.

The essence of Neurological Rehabilitation provided by our Centre is the restoration of all the functions that a Patient has lost as a result of an illness or accident.

TriVita Centre specialises in Neurological Rehabilitation of Patients with such ailments as:

• history of brain haemorrhage,
• history of stroke,
• history of vascular surgery (brain aneurysm),
• history of brain injury with paresis,
• limb paresis caused by various diseases,
• nerve palsy,
• central nervous system inflammation,
• peripheral nerve palsy, polyneuropathy,
• spinal cord and nerve roots dysfunctions,
• spinal cord injuries with quadriplegia and paraplegia,
• disk operations, degenerative stenosis,
• peripheral nervous system dysfunctions and muscular dystrophy,
• chronic condition after previous rehabilitation,

Rehabilitation is addressed to Patients suffering from nervous system dysfunctions which require long-term, individual and comprehensive rehabilitation. In the process of Neurological Rehabilitation, apart from the strategy individually selected by us for a given Patient, the time when it is started is equally important:

Rehabilitation of a patient in a critical condition, with a large neurological deficit assessed on the basis of the Barthel Index or on the basis of the scale of deficit in cognitive and behavioural functions should start within 14 days after his or her discharge from the Neurological Ward.

Rehabilitation of a patient with a smaller neurological deficit should start within 30 days after his or her discharge from the Neurological Ward.

Exceeding the above time limits does not exclude the rehabilitation process, however, it may have a significant impact on the degree and speed of return to the original functions of the locomotor or speech system.

“ We achieve this aim thanks to carefully selected staff of experienced and qualified Physiotherapists and Nurses.”

In the course of the Neurological Rehabilitation carried out in TriVita centre we offer both post-hospital (the so called ‘early’) rehabilitation and late rehabilitation. Our offer is addressed to all the Patients, also the ones that require a full range of nursing and caring services.

The Patient implementing term stays in our Centre can stay together with his or her Carer in a comfortable room adapted for the disabled. Persons visiting their Relatives can stay in dedicated hotel rooms. The idea of the Neurological Rehabilitation carried out by our Centre is to restore all the functions that have been lost or reduced as a result of the Patient’s illness / accident.

In the Neurological Rehabilitation carried out by our Specialists it is equally important to maintain the brain functions that have not been damaged yet. Their regular stimulation by our Physiotherapists and Neuro-Speech Therapist prevents possible deterioration of the Patient’s condition. Our Physiotherapists are also to teach new movement strategies to Patients so that they can live independently despite their disabilities.
Our Doctors, Physiotherapists, Neuropsychologists and Neuro-Speech Therapist teach Patients how to avoid the major risks that may be encountered by a person after a stroke (elements of the so-called secondary prevention).

The therapeutic methods we use within the Neurological Rehabilitation are largely based on the approach stimulating “brain plasticity”.

TriVita centre specializes in Neurological Rehabilitation of Patients with diseases such as:

  • a history of stroke
  • a history of cerebral hemorrhage
  • a history of vascular surgery (brain aneurysm)
  • a history of brain injuries with accompanying paresis
  • limb paresis caused by a variety of diseases
  • nerve palsies
  • CNS inflammation
  • peripheral nerve palsy, polyneuropathy
  • spinal cord and nerve roots disorders
  • spinal cord injuries: including tetraplegia and paraplegia
  • disc surgeries, degenerative stenosis
  • peripheral nervous system dysfunctions and muscular dystrophies
  • chronic conditions after earlier rehabilitation procedures
  • multiple sclerosis
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Huntington’s disease

We offer a complex range of neurological services

TriVita centre also offers Neurological Rehabilitation to Patients suffering from symptoms such as:

  • paresis of large muscle areas
  • pain syndromes
  • walking balance and speech disorders
  • muscular dystrophy
  • other consequences of the nervous system diseases

In the processes of the original motor functions’ improvement and restoration, our Physiotherapists use proven rehabilitation methods:

  • NDT/Bobath approach – blocking pathological motor patterns and paving normal reactions from the CNS,
  • PNF method – (PNF -Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation) – stimulation in accordance with the neuro-developmental principles for the central nervous system,
  • work on immersion muscle structures in accordance with the manual therapy by Mulligan
  • kinesiotaping – using elastic therapeutic tape in order to prevent subluxation of the shoulder joint in the case of flaccid paralysis of the upper limb
  • verticalization table – dynamic verticalization and improving limbs’ movement, used even at an >  early stage in Patients with neurological diseases
  • hydrotherapy -limbs’ whirlpool massage

Our Neurological Psychologists conduct:

  • evaluation of the Patients’ emotional state and treatment of mood disorders (including depression)
  • diagnosis and treatment of cognitive functions (e.g. memory, attention, language functions)
  • personality evaluation using standardized tests and questionnaires

Our Neuro-Speech Therapists support Patients by:

  • diagnosis and treatment of speech disorders and dysphagia
  • diagnosis and treatment of communication disorders with damage to the non-dominant hemisphere of the brain
  • PNF – Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation in the case of dysphagia and dysarthria in paresis and paralysis of the throat and tongue muscles
  • facial muscle massage according to Castillo-Morales therapy
  • method of educational kinesiology – facilitating interaction between brain hemispheres (in the case of attention and visual-spatial orientation disorders)

     Each of our Patients:

  • is precisely diagnosed in respect of his or her psychomotor abilities
  • undergoes evaluation and diagnostic tests to assess the rehabilitation progress.

The Neurological Rehabilitation therapy conducted in our Centre has also been based on individually developed functional rehabilitation. Rehabilitation activities take place in rooms designed for the Patients’ individual therapy. Our rehabilitation rooms are equipped with electrically operated therapeutic tables, handrails used to learn how to walk, and other equipment used in functional rehabilitation.

We have dedicated units of Neuro -Psychologists and Neuro-Speech Therapists as well as an Occupational Therapy Unit and a Hand Therapy Unit.
